Acapulco features a perfect climate: most daily temperatures average between 70 and 90 degrees (22-33 degrees Celsius) and even during the rainy season the sun is generally out for at least part of the day.

The beaches are beautiful and the water generally calm. As a world class resort, there is something for everyone: active sports such as bungee jumping and parasailing, scuba diving, and lively nightlife.

There are hotels and restaurants for every budget, and the hotel industry recently underwent a revamping and reinvention of sorts: the new Acapulco is cleaner and more tourist-friendly than ever.

The figure of a feathered snake alluding the god Quetzalcoatl, along with other images such as small toad, an animal which Rivera used to identify himself with, stand out in the artwork.
Acapulco was an integral part of trade routes with the Philippine Islands, which were also members of the Spanish empire. Originally, the fort was built to protect against pirate attacks. An earthquake in 1776 destroyed the original structure, but the current structure was constructed that same year as a replacement. The Acapulco Historical Museum is housed here and features displays detailing the history and culture of the city from its role in the Spanish conquest to its duties as a port for trade for the Americas. Embroidered silk tapestries, beads, hand-woven baskets, porcelain vases, Oriental chests and a baroque carriage are on display. Admission.
